Basmati rice with tender chunks of mutton marinated with selected spices and yoghurt. Traditional biryani dish fuii of flavour and goodness.


Basmathi rice 350g

Mutton on the bone, cut in to chunks 300g

Knorr Biryani Mix 1 packet

Yoghurt 1 cup

Onions, sliced 150g

Tomatoes, sliced 150g

Ginger, chopped 1 teaspoon

Garlic, chopped 1 teaspoon

Green chilies, sliced 1-2

Rampe 1 inch piece

Curry leaves sprigs 1.2

Ghee 1 tablespoon

Chill powder 1 tablespoon

Astra 20g

Handful of coriander leaves

Fried onions to garnish 100g

Water to marinate 50g

Water to cook . 300ml

Salt    1/2 teaspoon


1. Marinate mutton with the Knorr Biryani Mix, chili powder, yoghurt and water. Set aside for 15 minutes. Next, fry the onions for garnish and keep aside.

2. in a pot, add Astra and ghee. Then add ginger, garlic, green chili, rampe and curry teaves. Sauté tilt fragrant. Add the onion and tomatoes and sauté for a few minutes. Add the marinated mutton and fry for a minute. Next add the washed rice, salt and water. Bring to boil and slow cook with the lid on, tilt rice is done.

3. Finally, add the coriander leaves, fried onion and mix well. Serve hot.
Chefs tip Pound the meat slightly to better absorb the spices.
